Bride and groom walk into field by Sailcloth Marquee wedding reception in Dorset

Tabby & Jack’s unforgettable summer celebration by the Jurassic Coast.

Warm sunshine, live jazz, beautiful views, and one very happy couple — a truly unforgettable Dorset wedding day.

Tabby and Jack’s wedding day was everything a summer celebration in Dorset should be, sunny, stylish, and full of heart. Set in the charming village of Langton Matravers near Swanage, the day began with a beautiful ceremony that felt as personal as it was traditional. Held at St George’s Church, just a short walk from the family home, it felt wonderfully local and intimate. With strings from the Fleur Quartet echoing through the stone walls and guests lining the path with confetti in hand, the atmosphere was joyful from the start.

As a Dorset wedding photographer, I photograph weddings across the Jurassic Coast and surrounding villages, and days like this really show how special the area can be.

Tabby got ready at a stunning house nearby, a unique old English property with textured stone walls, leaded windows, and timeless character throughout. Morning light poured into the panelled rooms as she prepared with close family, sharing peaceful, emotional moments before the day began. It was the kind of setting that adds to the sense of occasion while still feeling warm and personal — a lovely place to document the quiet anticipation before the ceremony.

Before the service, Jack and his groomsmen gathered at the Kings Arms,  the village’s well-known pub, for a few drinks in the garden, soaking up the views across the valley to Corfe Castle. It set a relaxed tone for the day and added to the strong sense of place that ran through every part of their celebration.

After the ceremony, guests made their way to the reception at Jack’s family home, a stunning property nestled among rolling fields with views stretching out over the Jurassic Coast. The sailcloth marquee by Coastal Tents was set up in the garden, looking incredible in the golden light and styled beautifully with elegant details and soft, natural tones. Drinks and canapés flowed as the Noir Jazz Trio set the mood, and Tabby and Jack slipped away briefly for a quiet moment in a nearby field as the sun began its descent.

Everything about this wedding struck the perfect balance between sophistication and relaxed countryside charm. Guests were treated to a heartfelt set of speeches during dinner, followed by dancing under the marquee as the sun dipped below the hills. Juno brought the party to life for the evening reception, and the energy on the dancefloor was electric from the first dance to the final slice of pizza.

It was a day that celebrated not just a marriage but a strong sense of family, place, and shared joy. Tabby and Jack were a delight to photograph, warm, welcoming, and completely themselves. I’m so glad they chose me to document their Dorset wedding story.

Thank you for capturing our special day and for making us feel so comfortable in front of the camera, we absolutely loved having you there and we’re so grateful for the lifetime of memories we can look back on thanks to you!

-Tabby & Jack
