The Commission

A 20,000-capacity conference in Las Vegas

Tableau commissioned photography for one of their large-scale tech conferences in Las Vegas. The brief covered the full event experience, from keynotes and breakout sessions to speakers, delegates and wider atmosphere, with imagery required for advertising, internal communications and marketing materials.

At this scale, effective conference photography depends on clear planning and quick decision-making. Priorities had to be understood from the outset: which sessions mattered most, where the strongest activity would be, and how the coverage could reflect both the scale of the event and the human moments within it.

The Approach

Creative Process

A creative, documentary approach, capturing real emotion and the distinctive atmosphere of a major technology conference through reportage photography and lifestyle portraiture. A venue holding 20,000 people creates its own energy: the scale of a keynote in full flow, unguarded conversations between sessions, delegates moving through the wider event space. The brief called for alert, efficient coverage throughout, but also a strong creative eye, looking for clean compositions, layered scenes and visually engaging images that felt considered rather than routine.

Documentary coverage of all keynote presentations and main stage events
Lifestyle portraits of speakers, delegates and conference attendees
Wide-angle shots capturing the scale of keynote sessions and audience moments
Reportage focus on genuine emotion, atmosphere and energy throughout
Detail shots of branding, staging and production elements
Selected images delivered live during the event for use on venue screens
