Advertising Photography in Bournemouth and Dorset
Campaign imagery for brands, agencies and marketing teams.
On location advertising and campaign photography across Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset. Built around the campaign, the product or the message, and made to perform across every channel it runs on.
The Approach
Advertising and Campaign Photography for Brands, Agencies and Marketing Teams
I have worked as a commercial photographer in Bournemouth and across Dorset for more than 25 years, shooting campaign and promotional imagery for brands, agencies and in-house marketing teams. Advertising photography is not the same as documenting an event or taking a headshot. It starts with what the campaign needs to achieve, then works back to the images that will do it.
Most of my work is shot on location, where a product or a brand has space to feel real, and in the studio when a campaign calls for it. A product launch, a seasonal campaign, a set of hero images for paid social, a key visual for an advert. The idea behind the campaign, the people involved and where the images will appear all shape the day. My job is to understand the objective first, plan the shoot around it, and deliver images that hold up across the channels they are made for.
Whether the brief comes from a brand directly, an agency or an internal marketing team, the process is the same: understand it properly, plan the photography around the objectives, and make the most of the time on the day. Good advertising photography earns its place. It gives a campaign a consistent look, makes a product or service feel considered, and leaves you with a library that keeps working long after shoot day.

Why Invest
Why Advertising Photography Works
It Is Built Around the Campaign
Stock looks like stock, and an audience can tell. Photography made to the brief shows the actual product, the real people and the right setting, shot in a style that matches the campaign it sits in. That is what makes an advert feel considered and on brand.
One Shoot Covers Months of Marketing
A well-planned shoot produces a library, not a single hero image. Website, paid social, print, email, outdoor advertising and proposals can all draw from the same set, which keeps the look consistent and every asset earning its place.
Considered Imagery Raises the Whole Brand
The quality of the imagery is read as the quality of the brand. A current, art-directed set of photographs lifts every touchpoint it appears on, and sets a campaign apart from competitors still relying on stock or dated assets.

Advertising and Campaign Shoots
Every advertising commission is built around a clear objective: a launch, a seasonal campaign, an offer or a key visual for an advert. The idea behind it, the people and products involved, and where the images need to run all shape the scope of the shoot.
I shoot on location and in the studio across Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset, and to brand or agency art direction where you have it. Some campaigns need a single strong hero image, others a full set spanning product, people and place across multiple locations or several days.
Advertising and campaign work is quoted individually once the brief is clear, because no two carry the same scope. Every project includes pre-shoot planning, direction on the day, editing to a consistent standard, and delivery via a private online gallery with the usage rights your campaign requires.
Dorset Based · On Location & In Studio
A Dorset Photographer for Your Campaign
A lot of campaign work in Dorset still goes to London agencies and photographers, along with the additional travel and production costs that can involve. Being based in Dorset means you can bring an experienced advertising photographer on location without the expense and logistics of bringing a team down from the city.
I am equally comfortable working within an established creative process or helping to shape the photography from the outset. Bring your art direction, mood boards and brand guidelines, and I will follow them closely. Where the creative is still developing, I can help refine the visual approach, shot list and practical requirements before the shoot.
The process is clear from the beginning, with reliable delivery on the day, consistent editing and usage agreed in advance, including extended licensing for larger advertising campaigns.
Turnaround is fast and predictable, with a private online gallery and final assets prepared for the platforms and formats you need. For agencies bringing a campaign to the coast, or marketing teams looking for an experienced local photographer, it offers a straightforward way to produce high-quality campaign imagery without unnecessary complication.
Post-Production
The Edit
Every image in the final set is edited to a consistent standard, with a treatment calibrated to the campaign and the brand it sits in. The aim is a cohesive set that works across paid social, web, print and outdoor advertising without further colour correction.
If you have brand guidelines, bring them to the brief. Colour palette, existing campaign assets, the visual tone already running across your channels. The edit is built around them so the images sit naturally alongside the rest of the campaign rather than looking imported.

Local Knowledge
Advertising Photography for Brands Across Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset
Dorset has a strong base of brands and agencies that need campaign photography without sending the work out of the area. Bournemouth has a broad mix of creative, product-led and service businesses, alongside agencies handling campaigns for clients further afield, all needing imagery that presents a product or a message properly.
Poole brings a different type of brief again. The marine, watersports and maker industries have a strong visual identity, and increasingly need campaign imagery built around a product or a launch rather than a single catalogue shot. Across the wider Dorset area I work on campaigns for brands and the agencies that represent them.
Working locally means I know the locations, understand the range of briefs the area generates, and can move quickly, while travelling across Hampshire, Wiltshire, London and further afield when a campaign calls for it.

FAQs
Advertising Photography: Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between advertising and commercial photography?
Commercial photography is the broad term for any photography made for business use. Advertising photography is a focused part of it, made specifically to sell or promote something, a product, a service, a launch or a campaign, usually with more planning, art direction and styling behind each shot.
Do you work with agencies and marketing teams?
Regularly. I work with brands directly, with creative agencies and with in-house marketing teams. I am happy to shoot to your art direction and slot into an existing workflow, or to help shape the creative when that is useful. Usage and licensing are agreed clearly up front, including extended licensing for wider advertising campaigns.
How is this different from your lifestyle photography?
The craft overlaps, but the job is different. Advertising photography is built to push a specific campaign or promotion. Commercial lifestyle photography shows how a brand looks and feels day to day. If you have a launch or an advert in mind, you are in the right place. For authentic everyday imagery of a business, the lifestyle page is the better fit.
Do you shoot studio product photography or packshots?
I shoot product photography both on location and in the studio, styled to feel like part of a campaign rather than a catalogue. What I don’t take on is high-volume white-background ecommerce packshots; for that a dedicated packshot studio will serve you better, and I am happy to point you towards one.
How much does an advertising shoot in Dorset cost?
Advertising and campaign work is quoted individually, because scope varies so much from one brief to the next. Send me an outline of what you need and I will come back with a clear quotation that covers the shoot, editing and the usage your campaign requires.
How far do you travel for advertising work?
Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset are covered as standard. I travel across Hampshire, Wiltshire, London and further afield for campaigns that need it. Just mention the location when you enquire.
Where It Fits
Advertising, Lifestyle or Branding: Which One Do You Need?
These overlap, and plenty of shoots borrow from more than one. The simplest way to think about it is the job the images need to do. Advertising photography is made to sell or promote something specific. Commercial lifestyle photography shows how a business looks and feels day to day. Branding photography is more portrait-led, centred on the founder or team. PR photography covers press releases, announcements and story-led coverage, often delivered the same day. If you are not sure which fits, tell me what the images are for and I will point you the right way.
