I’m Paul Underhill, a Bournemouth-based photographer with over 25 years of commercial experience. My background is in photojournalism, which means I work quickly, adapt to any environment and get natural results without lengthy direction. I’ve photographed professionals across finance, local government, education, care and the creative industries – from solo founders to teams of fifty.

How much do headshots cost?

Individual portraits start from £75 for a solo session, or from £25 per person when booked as part of a team or group commission. Solo sessions are priced depending on duration, location and number of final images required. Get in touch with a brief outline and I’ll come back to you with a clear quote.

Do you come to us, or do we come to you?

I work on location rather than from a fixed studio. That means I come to you – your office, workplace, home or a suitable outdoor setting nearby. I use adaptable lighting equipment that sets up quickly in most spaces, large or small, so there’s no need for a dedicated studio environment. I’ve worked at locations across the area including Bournemouth University, Poole Quay, Sandbanks, central Bournemouth and the gardens – as well as countless offices, meeting rooms and homes throughout Dorset. For team shoots, working at your premises keeps things efficient and means minimal disruption to everyone’s day. On the rare occasion a dedicated studio space is needed, this can be arranged to suit your specific needs.

How long does a headshot session take?

A solo session typically runs between 30 and 40 minutes. Team shoots depend on numbers – I’d usually allow around 2 to 3 minutes per person.

What should I wear?

Plain, well-fitted clothing tends to work best. Avoid loud patterns, heavy logos or anything that distracts from your face. I’ll send you a short brief before your session with practical guidance, including background colour considerations if you have specific branding.

How quickly will I receive my images?

Edited, high-resolution images are typically delivered within a few working days. For urgent requirements, faster turnaround is usually possible – just let me know when you enquire.

Are these suitable for LinkedIn?

Yes. LinkedIn headshots make up a large part of what I photograph. The framing and edit are optimised to work at both profile thumbnail size and larger display formats. Several clients have come to me specifically because their previous headshots didn’t translate well to the platform.

Can I have both studio-style and natural-light shots in the same session?

Yes, this is possible. Many clients prefer a mix – a cleaner, more formal shot for official use alongside something more relaxed for social media or bio pages. I’ll discuss your needs in advance so we make the most of the time and locations.

Do you work with individuals as well as corporate teams?

Both regularly. Freelancers, founders, independent business owners and creatives make up a significant part of my headshot work. You don’t need a team or a corporate brief to book a session.
