The Approach

Photography for Spaces and the Businesses Behind Them

A new store, a completed development, a carefully designed interior. Your photographs need to show what makes the place worth visiting, staying in or choosing. For the people who designed and delivered it, they also need to demonstrate the quality of the finished work.

I photograph interiors and exteriors for businesses, agencies, developers, designers and engineering companies. Each commission starts with what you need the images to do, whether that is launch a new location, promote accommodation or present a completed project to your next client.

With more than 25 years of commercial photography experience, I bring a practical understanding of how images are used across websites, brochures, PR and campaigns. We plan the coverage around your priorities, with wider views, closer details and space for text where your layouts need it.

Who I Work With

Retail spaces, offices, showrooms, restaurants and other commercial premises. Photography for openings, refurbishments and website updates, showing the environment, facilities and details that matter to your customers.

Developers and Accommodation Providers

New homes, residential developments and accommodation, from hotels to serviced apartments. Photography of interiors, exteriors and shared spaces for property marketing, booking websites, brochures and launch campaigns.

Designers, Architects and Project Teams

Completed interiors, fit-outs, buildings and engineering projects. Show the overall result and the work within it, with photographs for portfolios, case studies, tenders and award submissions.

On Location

Interiors, Exteriors and Architectural Details

Interior photography brings together the layout, light and character of a space. Wider compositions show how a room works, while closer views highlight furnishings, materials, lighting and finishes.

Exterior photography sets the building in context. Frontages, entrances, landscaping and architectural features all have a part to play, from a single shop or office to a larger development or commercial site.

The balance follows your brief. You might need a complete record of a finished project, a focused set of room photographs or a mix of spaces and details for a new website. We can cover interiors and exteriors together, with timings planned around access and the light.

Planning Your Shoot

A Clear Brief, a Practical Approach

Send me the location, the areas you need covered and how you plan to use the photographs. If you have a shot list, brand guidelines, visual references or layouts from your designer, those help shape the coverage. I can also help put the brief together.

Before the shoot, we discuss when the space will be ready, opening hours, access and any areas that need to be clear of people. For exteriors, the building’s orientation, daylight and weather influence the schedule. For a larger site or several locations, we agree a sensible order and allow time for the priority views.

You work with me from the initial conversation through to the final edit. The quote sets out the coverage, editing, delivery and agreed image use, so everyone knows what to expect.

Post-Production

The Edit

The final selection is professionally edited, with attention to colour, contrast, perspective and consistency across the set. The aim is to present the space clearly while keeping the character of its lighting and materials.

Images are delivered through a private online gallery, with formats and a delivery date agreed for your project. If you need particular crops, additional retouching or photographs in time for a launch, include that in the brief.

Dorset & Beyond

Based in Bournemouth, Working Across Dorset and Hampshire

I photograph interiors and exteriors in Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and across Dorset, including Wimborne, Dorchester and the surrounding areas. Hampshire commissions are welcome too, from the New Forest to Southampton and Winchester.

Whether you are based locally or arranging a shoot here for a client, get in touch with the location and timings. I also travel to London and further afield for projects and commissions covering several sites.

The Wider Commission

Spaces, People and the Business in Action

Your brief may extend beyond the building. Team portraits, people using the facilities, customer interactions or coverage of an opening can be planned alongside the interior and exterior photographs.

For that wider coverage, see commercial lifestyle photography, branding photography and PR photography. We can bring the different elements together in one commission.

FAQs

Interior & Exterior Photography: Your Questions

How much does interior and exterior photography cost?

Each shoot is quoted individually. The number of spaces and locations, time on site, editing and intended image use all affect the scope. Send me a short outline of the project and I will recommend suitable coverage with a clear quotation.

Can you photograph while our business is open?

Often, yes. We can plan around quieter periods and agree which areas need to be available. If you need clear views without customers or staff, a session before opening or outside normal hours may be more suitable.

How should we prepare the space?

Have rooms clean and arranged as you want them shown. Check surfaces, windows, furniture, visible cables and signs, and remove anything that distracts from the space. Let me know about unfinished work or access restrictions before the shoot so we can plan around them.

Can interiors and exteriors be covered in the same shoot?

Yes, where the light, weather and access allow. We plan the order around the views you need. If a particular exterior needs different light or a return visit, we can discuss that when putting the schedule together.

How long does a shoot take, and when will the images be ready?

The time needed depends on the size of the location, the number of views and how much preparation each space needs. I will recommend an appropriate amount of time and agree the delivery date before you book. Mention any launch, marketing or publication deadline when you enquire.

Can our project partners use the photographs too?

Let me know which businesses need the images and where they will appear. Image use is agreed in the quote, including any requirements from designers, architects, contractors or other project partners. This helps everyone get the coverage and permissions they need from the outset.
