This post features documentary wedding photography of Alex and Bill’s winter wedding reception at The Haven Hotel in Dorset, following their marriage at a family Church in Leicestershire. They chose this particular location in Poole as they both spend allot of leisure time in the Dorset area and love the views from the hotel. I actually first met them when I was photographing another wedding at Salterns Marina in Poole when they had just returned from a jet-ski trip.
Alex was also pregnant and their first child due just a few weeks after the wedding. The couple really like candid and natural photography and requested reportage wedding photography of their intimate and relaxed wedding reception.
The Haven Hotel is a wonderful wedding venue and has spectacular views of Studland beach, the Purbeck hills and Brownsea Island. The hotel also overlooks and has access to Sandbanks beach. We took advantage and captured some romantic bride and groom portraits on the beach. For a winter wedding we were very lucky with some nice weather.
The couple’s London and Dorset based friends were already at the wedding reception venue waiting for the arrival of the bride and groom and the wedding ceremony guests that made there way to Dorset by coach. This was slightly unusual for a wedding day as the two locations were separated by a 4 hour commute. The guests were treated to champagne and canapés and a fantastic meal. The evening entertainment featured a firework display and line dancing. Both great fun.
