Sarah and Callum’s wedding reception was held over looking Bournemouth and Poole beaches. As a Dorset wedding photographer I really do love photographing couples on the beach, it’s such a fantastic location for portraits.
The wedding reception venue they chose was the Branksome Dene community room as they both love the fantastic sea views and it was the perfect setting for their intimate wedding celebration. The photo below was taken from the terrace just after I arrived. The sky was slightly overcast and I noticed the boat on the horizon, this is how the scene actually looked, just like an oil painting.

The wedding reception had such a personal and relaxed feel, more like a family BBQ on the beach than a traditional wedding reception. The couple and their friends made the DIY wedding decorations and piñatas. A friend brought their balloon modelling kit as a surprise that made great wedding entertainment. Another friend also brought hula hoops which she makes, this was fantastic fun for the guests and made great moments to capture. A lovely BBQ was served and ice cream on the terrace.
Sarah and Callum’s wedding day has to be the most relaxed and informal wedding celebration that I have ever had the pleasure to photograph. It was such a fabulous day, so happy for them and wish MR & MRS Butcher good luck for their future together in Thailand. I might have to come visit someday 😉
Here’s a link to their marriage if you missed it, the documentary wedding photography story continues..
Callum’s wedding ring was extra special as it was left to him by his Grandmother and belonged to his Grandfather.
