The challenge and reward of being a documentary wedding photographer is capturing natural moments during the wedding day, with real emotion and without interruption. Documenting people in intimate situations requires sensitivity and awareness, then with careful observations manoeuvring discretely into position to record the events.

I wanted to share some emotive documentary wedding photography as a short photo storyI always remember each wedding that I’ve photographed by memories of the moments that I have witnessed and an emotional connection with the people in the photos.

Documentary wedding photography: Tom’s story

This short documentary wedding photography photo story is from Ellie and Tom’s Dorset wedding at The Italian Villa in Poole. The sequence includes a touching moment just after Tom arrived at the wedding venue as he became overwhelmed with emotion. It was a very heart felt moment and I could emphasise completely, all the build up to the big day, then a rush of emotion. Luckily his Mom and Dad were on hand to offer support. It was a lovely marriage, very sweet with raw emotion. It’s an honour and privilege to be selected as a couple’s wedding photographer.

Black and white documentary wedding photography

I’ve chosen to make this entire set black and white to remove distracting colours, keep focus on the subject and the emotive photography.
