Claire and Jim had their intimate wedding ceremony just up the road from their home in Wimborne at Wimborne Minster Town Hall. The weather had just started to rain as guests arrived making for some striking documentary wedding photography moments.
Jim arrived in his unique wedding outfit, a blue suit, flower design shirt and pink tie. His ‘bestlady’ was styled in a 50’s bridesmaid dress and hair to match. Jim appeared a little nervous prior to the wedding. Claire looked absolutely stunning in her vintage styled bespoke wedding dress from Candy Anthony, one guest described the style as “very hollywood, pure glamour and classic elegance”, I think that’s about perfect! Claire and Jim’s excitement after the wedding ceremony was amazing to capture.
Their intimate wedding reception was held at Number 9 restaurant in Wimborne. It’s a lovely restaurant perfect as a small wedding venue. The atmosphere was bubbly and full of chatter. Speeches had a good balance of humour and touching words. A few tears were shed and lots of laughter was heard. When I left everyone was having a great time celebrating.
Thanks again for having me along to document your big day, it was an honour and pleasure to have shared your celebration of marriage.
As a documentary wedding photographer small wedding venues present a challenge to remain unobtrusive. A sensitive and considered approach is required to ensure sufficient space is given by adapting to the environment. Taking refuge in hidden spaces and behind other guests helps to reduce any intrusiveness, whilst providing good observation points.
