After a lovely civil wedding ceremony and informal drinks in the bar at Horwood House in Buckinghamshire, everyone made their way to the reception room. As Gemma and James made their entrance, there were cheers and applause from all the guests.
James being quite partial to tomato ketchup, one of the guests had dressed a bottle up and placed it at his table. Other table decorations included small boxes that contained hidden sweet treats including fizzy cola bottles, I had to try one of those
The kids were treated to small disposable cameras, they formed a wedding paparazzi pack, they got their own back and I was snapped quite a few times!
The big surprise during the reception were the secret singers, who posed as waiters serving food during the meal then pretended to offer a toast to the bride and groom on behalf of the hotel. All of a sudden they broke into song with Frank Sinatra and swing classics. Getting everyone involved singing and dancing. It was a very entertaining addition to the wedding celebrations.
There were some lovely moments during the speechs, tears and laughter. James made a special toast to their 90 year old Grandad. The best man speech by Andy was full of humour and some interesting stories including a slideshow presentation and the ‘shoe game’.
During the reception Ed, one of the best men, pulled me to one side and made a lovely comment, he said that I had allot of charisma and a great way of talking to people, making them feel at ease. Thanks Ed
I had such a great time photographing and documenting Gemma and James special day. I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to share the experience with them.
Here are just a few of the wedding photos and moments captured during the reception and later in the evening:
