Dorset wedding photographer – how it all began..

I moved to Bournemouth, Dorset some 25 years ago when my parents came to live here. Since then I have come to know Dorset very well and call it home. The jurassic coastline is a beautiful place, amazing beaches and scenery. Being able to take a walk along Bournemouth and Poole beaches and breathing the fresh sea air is always wonderful, even during the winter months.

Wedding photography came naturally, as I have always enjoyed photographing people from a young age since I had my first camera as a christmas present. Event photography was always a passion, capturing natural emotions and reactions as they happen.

I have been photographing weddings as a professional photographer for over 10 years. A wedding is a once in a lifetime event and is very special. It is an honour and privileged to be part of someones wedding day and there is no better satisfaction then having the happy couple and their family and friends smile as they see the wedding photographs and get transported back to the special moments.

My wedding photography style was developed through my other work photographing events, I have travelled the globe working for the international press, glossy magazines and corporations, specialising in capturing the moment through lifestyle portraiture, documentary and reportage event photography. Over 15 years of unique experience working for a wide variety of clients has developed my skills and creative abilities.

I approach wedding photography from the position of an observer, photographing quietly and unobtrusively in a truly natural way, capturing the very essence of the day. Having a relaxed and friendly approach, there are no fixed grins or uncomfortable poses, just people having fun, laughing, dancing, being themselves. I find when a photographer starts to direct, it can become their idea of how the wedding should be.

With the wonders of modern technology, digital wedding photography provides almost an unlimited potential to be creative, allowing for a wide scope of artistic expression and styling. Some people prefer black and white photography, which can now easily be done in digital post production. All the digital photographs provided on the wedding DVD are post-processed so they look their absolute best.

I like to provide a personal account of each couples wedding, so they are left with a wedding album that is unique to them, and can be enjoyed for generations to come. I design every wedding album around the individual wedding story and the couples favourite wedding photographs.

Affordable wedding photography packages are available from £495 for 2012 bookings. When you book your wedding photography I will arrange for you to have a complimentary engagement photography session. This is a great way for us to get to know each other better, chat about the wedding plans and for you to get used to a professional photographer taking photographs which is great practice before the special day.

Bournemouth is planning to host wedding and civil partnerships on the beach, here is a link to the BBC news article. I look forward to the opportunity to photograph a beach wedding soon.
